Emily Mostyn-Brown

Emily graduated in 2018 from ACSF (Australian College of Sport & Fitness) with a degree in Remedial Massage. During her studies she focused on deep tissue, trigger points, sports and relaxation massage. Emily often works with the WA Skydivers and recently went to Perris, California for the Aussie National Record to massage.

Before coming to Australia Emily spent 10 years travelling the world teaching and performing flying trapeze and indoor aerial arts.

Maddie Matthews

Maddie graduated from the School of Physiotherapy at Curtin University in 2018 and began working at Fiona Stanley Hospital where she gained experience in areas including Spinal Rehabilitation, Amputee Rehabilitation and Oncology. Maddie decided to move into a private practice setting, as she thrives on creating relationships within her community and watching her clients progress significantly over time.

Maddie previously completed a Dry Needling course with the Australian Physiotherapy Association and has been practicing dry needling for some time now. She is currently widening her Pilates rehabilitation knowledge by completing a comprehensive course with Polestar Pilates.

Outside of her Physiotherapy time, Maddie is managing and instructing classes in our Pilates studio (@embodypilatesstudio). Maddie feels best when she is at a Pilates or strength based exercise class, or catching up with friends and family for coffee and good food! She loves to talk about her two fur-babies and is currently planning her wedding!

Lauren Young

Physiotherapist (Continence & Women’s Health) | Pilates Instructor

Lauren started her career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) where she gained valuable experience prescribing exercise for a broad range of the population. It was through this type of work that she developed an interest in women’s health, musculoskeletal and exercise rehabilitation. Therefore, with an ongoing commitment to her professional development, she studied the STOTT Pilates method.

Following years of teaching Pilates, she wanted to offer her clients a more comprehensive approach and experience. Therefore, she decided to become a Physiotherapist where she could offer both hands-on and exercise-based treatments.

Lauren has also undertaken postgraduate studies in Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapy and has gained valuable experience on maternity wards as well as Women’s Health private practice. She has a passion for anything to do with the pelvis as well as pregnancy and the postnatal period! She recently co-wrote and co-taught a course to educate AEP’s on “Exercise during Pregnancy and the Postnatal Period”.

In her spare time, she likes to hike in the hills, grow organic veggies, cycle and spend time with her Labrador puppy!

Karolina McLaren

Physiotherapist | Pilates Instructor | Polestar Pilates Australia Educator

Karolina graduated with first-class honors from the School of Physiotherapy at Curtin University in 2009. During her study she taught group Pilates classes and this is when her passion for Pilates began. Karolina has had training in a number of different Pilates methods (Art of Motion, Pilates International, Stott and Polestar). She has completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates with Polestar Pilates Australia in 2012, and since then has become an Educator for Polestar, teaching courses to students wanting to become qualified Pilates instructors in Perth.

Karolina has had extra training and can treat the following areas:

Vestibular Rehabilitation: Dizziness and Vertigo | Scoliosis in children, teenagers and adults | Dry Needling: for muscles tension, pain and trigger points | Pelvic Girdle Pain: Sacroiliac Joint Pain and dysfunction.

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) pain: Jaw pain and clicking.

Karolina enjoys going out to different cafes for breakfast, trail running, triathlons (she ran her first Marathon in 2013, ran the 2017 Busselton Half Ironman and is training for the 2017 New York marathon) and trains in aerial silks and yoga.
